The first year of our new library

In our first year of operation we successfully achieved our main aim, starting this project from the very beginning, including the planning and preparation of  the physical setting for our library and education centre, acquiring a good stock of over 1300 titles, [some bought, some donated in Peru, some donated in the UK] , made full  use of the facilities appopriate to the ages of our children, made firm contacts in Peru with those able to help our staff and children with a good induction into the work and functioning of a library.

Donations of good quality books in Spanish suitable for a children's/school library would be welcome, as would appropriate bilingual books [English/Spanish].

We will be looking for a new volunteer librarian in 2013...if you are interested in discussing this, do get in touch.

For more information, and about volunteering opportunities in our library, see http://projectperu.org.uk/our-work/library.htm or contact information@projectperu.org.uk

Distribution of goods from the UK

Following a donation of new shoes in the UK, we organised a distribution in 2011 in a specific area of great need near our refuge, and in 2012 we also distributed new shoes in an extremely poor community in the Apurimac region of the southern Peruvian Andes.
