Project Peru: a short video about aspects of life in our refuge

See https://youtu.be/eYhdBmySgac

This video [about 4 minutes long, with its commentary in Spanish with English sub-titles] was made by the Intrepid Foundation to be shared by its tour leaders and groups visiting Peru: http://www.theintrepidfoundation.org

Project Peru is one of the projects it supports on a regular basis. If you look at this link http://www.theintrepidfoundation.org/projects/project-peru/ and make a donation on-line the Intrepid Foundation will match that donation dollar for dollar.  [Australian]

Some comments about the film:

"I think the video is fantastic. It gives a really good flavour of life at the refuge as well as the ethos and philosophy behind it. You are right, focusing on the positives of what Project Peru is doing in the lives of these children is a refreshing approach to a charity video. Focusing on what can be achieved through truly caring for these children and giving them back their childhood, which in turn will give them the strength to face adulthood and all the challenges that will bring, presents the key philosophies on which Poject Peru is founded. Well done to you all."

"I absolutely loved the video link of the children at the refuge. It is fantastic...Those children...they just look like they have amazing characters and it was lovely to look at their daily lives."

Some photos taken during the making of the film:

Two more houses built for flood victims

In May and June 2017 Project Peru was able to go twice to Paramonga north of our refuge and with two teams of staff, volunteers, family members with local people we were able to complete two simple new houses for people who had lost everything. This sort of community work is only possible for us after generous donations. We were particularly grateful for donations to help with all this relief work from a Peruvian restaurant in Berlin [Chicha Berlin- htttp://www.facebook.com/ChichaBerlin]  Do look back at more of our News items in April, May and June 2017 to see more on the floods and our reponse.

Building a house for flood victims

Thanks to some more generous donations we have been able to build a small wooden house for a family of the Peruvian flood victims in March. A small team of staff members, family members and one of our volunteers completed this in a few days. We are planning on completing another one soon.

A career break? Just retiring? Just a break? Volunteer in Peru?

We can arrange tailored volunteer placements in our project in Peru for volunteers of all ages and are looking for volunteers at any time during the latter part of 2017 and in 2018. We can be quite flexible, so just enquire and we can discuss it with you! There is a whole range of activities that volunteers may be engaged in, and the more varied the skills that a volunteer can offer the better. Many volunteers also raise sponsorship money for us by doing the Inca Trail. You might do  some work in our garden? or in our library? teach English? learn Spanish? art? music? sports? computers? building? sewing? help look after our children?
