Project Peru activities for schools in the UK

We have held many "Peru Days" in schools...or schools have 'adopted' us for a term or a year, or have linked Peru to a programme of activities in the national curriculum, or have just held a 'one-off' charity day in support of us. Such awareness raising sessions have been held in a variety of schools, and can be tailored to specific needs. Some geographical constraints will apply but, please, for more information, see http://projectperu.org.uk/uk-activities/schools.htm

Ask us about our sessions, particularly at primary level, including a workshop 'El Nuevo Mundo'

A career break? Just retiring? Just a break? Volunteer in Peru?

We can arrange tailored volunteer placements in our project in Peru for volunteers of all ages and are looking for volunteers at any time during 2017. We can be quite flexible, so just enquire and we can discuss it with you! There is a whole range of activities that volunteers may be engaged in, and the more varied the skills that a volunteer can offer the better. Many volunteers also raise sponsorship money for us by doing the Inca Trail. You might do  some work in our garden? or in our library? teach English? learn Spanish? art? music? sports? computers? building? sewing? help look after our children?

The gift of clean water

Project Peru is one of the charity projects supported by The Intrepid Foundation, part of an Australian travel company. If you look at their website you will see we are part of their special Christmas campaign this year: http://theintrepidfoundation.org/ --click on Global Gifts, helping us to maintain our supply of clean drinking water following our introduction of a drinking water fountain in our refuge in 2014.

The Intrepid Foundation will also 'match fund' any general donations to us via their Foundation, and not only at Christmas.

Our latest cargo from the UK has arrived

We send a container full of donated goods to Peru each year which enables us both to give direct help in the refuge, in the local community and in a few communities in the Andes, and to save us money in Peru. Our recent delivery included donated materials for our kitchen, educational, art and stationery materials, new books for our library, educational and recreational toys, toiletries, office furniture and equipment, clothes, shoes, wheel-chairs and children's scooters, together with many other items. Please enquire about possible donations, and ...

A fairer slice of the cake this year?

It's amazing the difference a cake can make to the lives of children trapped in the circle of poverty. One cake raffled, sold or auctioned for us this Christmas...along with other ingenious ways of using a cake to trigger donations..means that one child from our refuge will be able to afford to go to the local State school for a year, paying for uniforms, school materials, books and much more, or that four of our older students will be able to attend further education courses for a month. And we have 18 of these cakes being raffled around the UK this Christmas, including some in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester, Newcastle, Shrewsbury, London [Ealing, Walthamstow, Wandsworth], Faversham, Littlehampton, and in the Guildford area [Guildford, Milford, Dunsfold].

Here are some more examples of this year's cakes.

All the ingredients, professional baking, icing and decorating are donated so that every penny of the money raised goes directly to support the education of the children in our refuge in Peru.

You can help too by just making a donation. If you would like to donate to this cause anyway please send a donation marked 'Christmas cakes' to http://www.charity choice.co.uk/project-peru-5466; OR while you are spending time shopping online this season [or any time really!] why not consider this? http://projectperu.org.uk/news/2016/11/01/easy-fundraising-for-project-peru-when-shopping-online.htm
