Our refuge has a settled and familiar rhythm and is a peaceful haven in the troubled world outside our walls, both in Peru and internationally. The children are all at school and have visits to their families where possible every month. Several of our previous residents, now university students, are adapting to the challenges of life outside the oasis that is the Casa Hogar [our refuge] … keeping in touch and often returning ‘home’ to see their friends and to share in the life of our welcoming refuge, as volunteer helpers
In our kitchen garden it’s radish, turnip and banana time again … the boys and girls help in harvesting them … all thanks to our green-fingered gardener who’s demonstrating our composting area.
Whenever possible our children exercise on our sports pitch which was created, now many years ago, by a team of volunteers from the UK. Our teams compete locally in external competitions and the girls’ football team has recently won their local championship.
The children have regular dental checks with any follow-up treatment.
We hold regular staff meetings and staff development sessions for our team of full time and sessional staff.
We hold regular earthquake drills and the whole site is fumigated regularly.
And we also get regular donations of food supplies for the refuge from local food banks while at the same time acting as a local hub to redistribute some of this in the local community.

Thanks to all our current supporters everywhere for your ongoing interest; at any time we welcome new supporters so please use our DONATE BUTTON on the website.
