Being in the southern hemisphere this is the time of long school holidays, most of the children at our refuge spend some time with their families or guardians, time for staff holidays too, and for cleaning up and refurbishment at the refuge.
In February it was time for the returning children and adolescents and for the induction of new children.
Though last year they didn’t go, this time it was also a return to the traditional week’s beach holiday at the Playa de las Tortugas near Casma where everyone enjoyed packing up, loading and unloading all the supplies, the coach ride, then all the activities, swimming, games etc.
And, on their return, time to check out and collect some of the fresh fruit we grow in the kitchen garden.
Next step will be back to school.
