Project Peru-musical experiences across borders

In February 2020 we thoroughly enjoyed a visit from the internationally known pianist Panos Karan  who came to the refuge on the back of his visit to Lima for a performance of classical and modern music arranged by the British Peruvian Cultural Association  in the ‘Teatro Británico‘. He came with  some of the young Peruvian musicians of the ‘Orquesta Sinfónical del Británico‘ who had been performing with him in Lima. They not only gave a short performance and demonstration in front of some of our children and staff but also were able to exchange musical experiences, so the children could try out the visitors’ instruments including keyboard, violin, and trombone while the visitors experimented with our pan-pipes and ‘cajones‘ (box drums). Playing music can make the world a better place.
